The second PLAYFOOD discussion panel in Greece focused on food waste reduction and introduced composting as a simple, practical solution for turning organic waste into a valuable resource. Hosted at the 3rd Public Primary School of Naoussa, the session engaged primary school children and teachers in exploring how everyday actions can contribute to protecting the environment and supporting circular food systems.
Through demonstrations and hands-on activities using a real composting unit, participants learned which materials can be composted, how the composting process works, and why it is important for soil health and sustainable living. The interactive format encouraged curiosity, participation, and reflection, helping children connect environmental concepts with real-life practices at home and at school. The session concluded with an open discussion where students and teachers shared ideas on how composting can become part of their daily routines and community initiatives.
